Welcome

I have visited and photographed threshing barns for over ten years. I am fascinated by their structure, the variety within one form of building and their former importance to the community. Some of them may have changed ownership or use since my visit so do check on their websites. I have travelled all over England visiting barns and giving illustrated talks to local societies. If you belong to a local history society or have an interesting barn in your area, please get in touch.

This site has grown so much since I began that I have had to split it up into number of sub-sections with their own indices, these are: Barns by Region, Barns by Type, Wedding Barns, Meet & Eat and Museums. I have just started a whole new section still in beta form called “Other Timber Structures”.

I also give Illustrated Talks with Scale Models & Information Boards

I have also added some flip books of my books about barns.

Click here to view my Google Map of barns in England & Wales that I have visited.

I’m having to completely restructure my website, so I’m afraid most of it will be off line for a while.

While I’m working on it, please have a look at my flipbooks.
