The barns I have visited in Cambridgeshire are a rather varied set. Three of them; Duxford Chapel, The Nun’s Refectory at Denny Abbey and Isleham Priory are former ecclesiastic buildings which were used as barns after the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
Ely Monastic barn is now the refectory for the King’s School while the Castor Barns are either dwellings or offices.
The typical Cambridgeshire barn is a timber- framed aisled barn like the ones at The Farmland Museum and Manor Farm in Bourn.
