Although my main interest is in threshing barns, I also like to look at other types of barn. In the north as in the south west, there is a large number of bank barns. These are built into the hillside with animal byres on the lower floor and storage for fodder crops on the upper floor.
Many of these are still in agricultural use. Many of the remainder have been converted to dwellings as the two levels make for fairly easy conversion.
I was only able to see inside the Townend Barn and only the lower floor so I have not given these barns separate pages.
