Somerset Barns

There are some very fine barns in Somerset, notably the four barns originally owned by Glastonbury Abbey. The Mendip hills which run through Somerset provided limestone for building. The draining of the levels provided good arable land.

If you are interested in abbeys there are three other fine abbeys to visit in Somerset; Muchelney Abbey, Cleeve Abbey and Wells Cathedral. There is also the Bishop’s Palace at Wells.
