High House Farm, Tumby,

This is the barn in Tumby, Lincolnshire is a barn that E.M.E.S.S. Is helping to restore. The roof was originally thatch but is now covered with corrugated iron which has saved the building from  collapse.

A brick extension has been added at one end and a timber shed at right angles at the other. An opening has been made in one gable, but internally the barn is more or less in its original condition except for its state of disrepair. It has mud & stud walls on top of a brick plinth wall. The timber frame is quite sturdy and has a horizontal rail to carry the vertical laths. The wall posts are braced with rather waney diagonal braces and many of the beams are of equally poor wood.
