Buildings Converted into Barns

When Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries he had most of the abbey churches dismantled so that the could not be reoccupied again as monastic churches, but many of the other large buildings were left intact. The great magnates who acquired the estates sometimes converted these large buildings into barns rather than incurring the expense of building a barn from scratch.
