I have visited and photographed threshing barns for over fifteen years. I am fascinated by their structure, the variety within one form of building and their former importance to the community. I have not included links to websites as changes in ownership and the vicissitudes of time mean that many details have changed since my visit. If you want to find out more please search on line using the details of the site name and location.

I am still developing the site so please revisit and explore a little further. The section I have called “The Barn Story” explores the background, historic and cultural context of the threshing barn along with the other farm buildings that may accompany it.

The  Index of Barns is now up to date.
The sections “Barn Story” and “Barns by Type” have their own individual indices.
If you get lost, or a page is not available, either click the back button on your browser or click on “Home”
at the top or bottom of the menu
and it will bring you back here.

I’m now restructuring my website, so some links may not work.
My apologies and thanks for your patience.
