Chilley Farm is a working farm on the Sussex side of the Kent/Sussex border. It is on a narrow lane which winds its way from Pevensey to Rickney. We spotted the recently restored brick and flint barn and then the notice advertising drinks and snacks!
After an excellent sausage & egg sandwich, the farmer kindly showed me round the barn which had had to be heavily restored after the great storm of 1987. It has a single aisle with a central midstrey and a hay loft at one end. It has flint walls with brick quoins and stringers and a clay tile roof. There is a date stone of 1609. It is now for hire as an events venue.
