Alpheton Hall Barley Barn

Set at right angles, at one end of the great barn is the Barley Barn. This is a later, unaisled structure. On one side, the tie beams are braced by the usual long braces, but on the other side are knee joints, bolted to the timbers. These can be found in many barns from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Examples can be seen at Denham antiques and Whitehouse Farm barn, both in Suffolk.

The Barley Barn is next door to Alpheton Church.
