The Racing & River Boat Museum at Beale Park opened in Spring 2013. The museum is dedicated to a collection of small historic boats. It does not appear to have a website at the moment. Search the museum name for opening times and events.
The museum is housed in the old tithe barn at Church Farm in Lower Basildon. It is a large, timber-framed, aisled barn with a brick casing. It is probably seventeenth century.
The trusses have arched (or cranked) under-principals. These are the struts under the principal rafters supporting the purlins. This is a feature of barns of this area and period.
