I quite often get emails from people researching a particular barn. I was recently contacted by the owner of this interesting barn conversion. I have not yet visited it but he was kind enough to give me permission to use his photographs for this page.
The owner wrote: “It is an aisled barn dating from the C15/C16 century, timber-framed and brick with a stone slate roof. The barn was converted to a dwelling some 20 years ago. The conversion has provided a generously proportioned 4 bedroom dwelling. The original design and scale of the barn are clearly evident.”
The Historic England listing: “5-bay, double-aisled, reduced from former 7 bays. 3 king-post trusses with single angle struts straight braced to ridge, former closing truss at north end has 3 vertical infilling struts to either side of broad king post.”
