Barn at Redacre Hall Farm

I found this barn on the Images of England website. We were having a holiday in the north-west and were passing through Cheshire.

The farm took some finding as the first track we tried to follow became impassable. When we got there the farmer was very friendly and showed me round his farmstead with its courtyard surrounded by farm buildings, one of which was the sixteenth century barn. It is built from the local sandstone with the low pitched roof that told us we were now in the North. The stone tile roof is supported by heavy timberswith arched braces to the tie beams and the very heavy trenched purlins.
