Upminster Tithe Barn is located on Hall Lane in Upminster. It used to be in Essex but is now in Greater London. The hall in question used to be a hunting lodge for the abbots of Waltham Abbey and the barn was probably built about 1450.
It is a timber-framed, aisled barn but rather than being of the Essex type, Rigold suggests it is a Kentish style barn. It is 45 metres long and 12 metres wide with a central midstrey. It is now a Museum with its collection of artefacts covering life and work in town and country.
