When I first visited Cosby the tithe barn was known as Coates Barn from the name of the owners. It has now changed owners to become a restaurant, so I revisited it to see inside. The site has been landscaped and developed with a car park and a courtyard garden with seating for fifty people.
Inside, half the barn has become the kitchen and serving area, but the other half is the dining area with three pairs of well preserved crucks. The walls have undergone numerous repairs and replacements, but a piece of the original wattle and daub is preserved behind glass in the apex of one pair of crucks.
We had a very pleasant meal in a cool, quiet room waited on by friendly and efficient staff. Check the website for menus and opening times.
