Lenham Tithe Barn, Kent

Court Lodge was a demesne of St. Augustine’s Abbey. The barn was one of a pair, but unfortunately the other one was burned down. It is the largest barn of its type in Kent (160 ft long overall).  The main section is seven bays long with a very regular post structure and long slender crown posts.

A later addition at one end, made it ten bays altogether. The extension was used for stabling. Now the barn is used for community events and a regular art show, by the Pilgrims Way Artist, when it is possible to get inside and see this grand structure. It also available as a wedding venue.
