The Manorial Barn - Whiston

The Manorial Barn in Whiston is an eight bay, aisled, timber-framed barn. The five southern bays have been dated to the early thirteenth century making it possibly the oldest agricultural building in Yorkshire. The three northern bays were added in the sixteenth century.

It stands on Chaff Lane, presumably named from the chaff being blown out of the midstreys during threshing. It is now run as a community venue, which was granted a license for civil marriages in April 2013. It is open on Heritage Open Days.
