The cruck barn at Tatton Park Old Hall in Cheshire originally stood in a farm at Frodsham nearby. It had fallen into decay but was rescued through a young people’s job creation scheme.
It dates from the fifteenth or sixteenth century. It is 70 ft long and is divided into four bays by four pairs of crucks with a fifth pair in the end gable. It has a thatched roof and brick gable ends. The box-frame and crucks stand on a sandstone plinth.
The barn and Old Hall are open to the public. Check the website for opening times.
