Englishcombe Tithe Barn

Englishcombe Tithe Barn dates from the fourteenth century. It is probably one of the finest examples of a medieval tithe barn (as distinct from a monastic or grange barn) still surviving.

It has been restored following storm damage to the roof. The roof is lined with straw for insulation and there are numerous masons’ marks on the walls.

The barn is usually open on Heritage Open Days and there is often a tour of the picturesque and historic village included in the visit.
