Ablington Manor Barns,
Oxfordshire

These two barns are part of Manor Farm in Ablington. The larger barn was built in the mid to late sixteenth century, probably just after the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is cruciform in plan with a gabled wagon porch on each side and a fine raised-cruck roof.

The smaller barn, built up against it has a similar roof. It has a datestone “IC/1727-John Coxwell”. John Coxwell was the lord of the manor at that time. The barns are still in use by the farm, being fitted out as stables.
