Hendre-Wen Cruck Barn

This barn was completely derelict and covered in ivy when it was donated to the National Museum of Wales at St. Fagans. It has four bays and measures 15.5 metres by 6.2 metres externally. It has three sets of crucks with tie beams at the level of the eaves. It has a stone gable at one end and a stone wall with a timber clad triangular truss at the other.

Like many barns of its type it was probably used for both grain storage and as a cattle byre. It originally had a beaten clay floor later replaced with dressed stone slabs.
