Winters Barns, Kent

Winters Barns is a wedding venue outside Canterbury in Kent. The owner has spent the last thirty years restoring and conserving this set of attractive farm buildings set round what was the farmyard. It now forms a courtyard with a pond and ornamental bridge.

There are two aisled barns set at right angles to each other. The earlier (top right) was built in about 1660 and the later single-aisled barn (bottom right) dates from roughly a century later.

Originally they were used for grain storage and processing, and then pig rearing and latterly storing and threshing hops. The earlier barn is festooned with hop vines which are replaced every September.
