Church Farm, Shustoke,
Warwickshire

The barn at Church Farm on Shawbury Road, Shustoke, near St. Cuthbert’s Church, is a typical midland box-frame barn. It is probably contemporary with the farmhouse which is early seventeenth century. It is now used as a garage and workshop.

The three bays at the north-west end are box -framed on a brick plinth wall with diagonal braces at the top of the corner posts. It has triangular roof trusses with raked struts to the side purlins. The frame of the two south-east bays has been replaced with later brick walls. These have typical diamond pattern ventilation holes, indicating the alteration was probably carried out in the eighteenth century.
