Sissinghurst Castle Barn,Kent

The barn at Sissinghurst Castle is a Tudor brick barn. Set in the farmyard next to the later oasts it is a fine monument to agriculture and status.

It is five bays long with tall brick buttresses and long ventilation strips in the walls. The wagon entrances are tall pointed arches. It has a clay tile roof.

Inside a modern, inserted spiral staircase gives you access to a hayloft, eighteenth century machinery and a closer view of the queen-post truss roof.
