Duxford Chapel

Duxford Chapel, like Chisbury Chapel, St James’ Chapel and Isleham Priory, started off as a religious foundation, became a barn after the Dissolution of the Monasteries and has now been restored and placed in the guardianship of English Heritage.

The small settlement stands where the Whittlesford Bridge crosses the River Cam. At some point in the thirteenth or fourteenth century a hospital was built to give shelter for poor travellers and to care for the sick. A full history is on the English Heritage website.
