Lindwaylane Farm Cruck Barn

At one tie there would have been hundreds of barns like this in the Amber Valley and north Derbyshire. But now only a few remain, the rest either converted to holiday cottages or succumbing to the ravages of time, weather and neglect.

The cruck barn at Lindwaylane Farm was repaired in the 1980s to accommodate the new owners herd of goats. It has been well maintained since that time and still fulfills the function for which it was purchased. It stands on a steep slope. A heavy stone bulwark and brick buttresses reinforce the downslope sides. Inside it has four full crucks with most of ther original purlins and arched wind-braces.
