Passenham Manor Barn

Passenham is a small village just outside Milton Keynes. It has a 13th century church, a manorial mill and the Manor House itself, the headquarters of Environmental Building Solutions Ltd.

The owners allowed me inside to photograph the unusual roof structure. It is a raised-cruck roof, but instead of the crucks being imbedded in the walls they rest on top of them with battens down the wall and buttresses on the outside to prevent spreading. The trusses are similar to those at Basing House Barn except that they have a complex crown-post rather than queen posts.
