When I visited this five bay, cruck barn it was being restored and converted to a wedding venue. In spite of being so busy, the owner kindly allowed me in to photograph it.
It has seven bays and is believed to be the longest continuously roofed cruck barn in Derbyshire. Tree-ring dating has placed it in the first half of the sixteenth century. The near end in the picture below was later modified for animal shelter. Three of the surviving crucks still rest on their padstones, indicating that the stone walls replaced earlier timber framed walls.
