If you are ever in Tyne & Wear, do go to Bede’s World. It is not nearly as “Disneyfied” as the name suggests. It is in fact a very clear and thorough explanation of the role of the Venerable Bede and the Anglo-Saxon monasteries of the North in the development of England.
I have included it here because there is an interesting collection of reconstructed buildings and rare breeds from the Anglo-Saxon period. Along with the reconstruction at West Stow it helps to give us some idea of one of the starting points for the development of the English barn.
