Chirk Castle Home Farm

Chirk Castle Home Farm is a grade II listed site consisting of a nineteenth farmhouse and a set of eighteenth and nineteenth century farm buildings grouped round a farmyard. The buildings are timber framed on a rubble stone ground floor. The listing describes them as “a coherently planned group designed in a consciously picturesque idiom.”

A large cartway opens from the yard into the South range, which is a barn to the East, and cow-house to the West. The barn houses a shop for visitors. It has a heavy timber roof with raked struts from the tie-beams to the principal rafters. It is subdivided by inserted brick walls.
