We went to Clifton in Cumbria on our way back from Carlisle. We actually went to see Clifton Hall, a fifteenth century tower, belonging to English Heritage, which is the only surviving part of the manor house
While we were there I noticed the “gin gang” or “gin case” on the outside of a barn. The farmer allowed me to photograph the barn and farmyard.
It is a typical eighteenth or nineteenth century Cumbrian farmyard with stone buildings round a courtyard. It is all in good condition and still a working farm.
