Aylton Court Barn,
Herefordshire

This formerly dilapidated cruck-frame barn has been beautifully restored by its new owners. It stands just west of the church in Aylton, Herefordshire, next to the Manor House.

It has five bays with a central midstrey. The roof is supported by eight oak crucks with tie beams across the crucks to the wall-posts and a collar-beam just below the purlins. The walls are oak framed with woven, oak stave infill.

This barn is similar to the cruck barns in Avoncroft and Chiltern open air museums, but most like the one at Arley Hall only simpler in construction.
