Bury Barn and the hotel next to it stand on the site of Bury Manor just outside Burford in Oxfordshire. It is now a Starbucks coffee house.
The barn is cruciform in layout and built of dressed, cotswold stone. It has undergone many alterations in its life, notably the addition of an extra wing at the front in the 1930s and the insertion of windows in place of the original ventilation slits.
Inside a ceiling has been inserted at the level of the upper purlins along with new heating and lighting. The service counter is at one end, but the rest of the barn is open so its size can be appreciated. In spite of the alterations, the thickness of the walls and the size of the tie-beams, some of which appear to be original, are clear evidence of the original design and purpose of this fine building.
