The Weald & Downland Museum

The Weald & Downland Museum near Singleton in Sussex was one of the first open air museums in England. It now houses a lots of historic buildings including a number of barns. It recently featured in the BBC 2 series “The Tudor Monastery Farm”.

The barn from Court Lodge in Lea-on-Solent (top right) will be recognisable to many people as it is the setting for the TV programme “The Repair Shop”. The other two barns are also aisled, threshing barns. The “Gridshell” (below left) is a large workshop and artefact depository with a fascinating modern oak frame.
