Tanhouse Farm, Herefordshire

Tanhouse farm sits next to St. Margaret’s Church in St. Margarets, which still has its rood loft (the reason for our visit).

In front of the farm is a large spring-supplied basin cut from the sandstone bedrock, which may have been thesite of the tanning house.

The barn is a timber-framed, post & truss structure built over a stone animal house. It has a corrugated iron roof with clapboard cladding on the walls. Inside it has a queen-post truss roof on a box frame.
