Tanhouse Farm, Herefordshire

Tanhouse farm sits next to St. Margaret’s Church in St. Margarets, Herefordshire, which still has its rood loft (the reason for our visit).

In front of the farm is a large spring-supplied basin cut from the sandstone bedrock, which may have been the site of the tanning house.

The barn is a timber-framed, clapboard clad structure built over a stone animal house. It has a corrugated iron roof. The interior consists of 5 bays with queen-post trusses on a box frame.
