Abbey Manor  Barn, Somerset

“The Abbey Manor at Preston Plucknett was originally called Preston Bermondsey, suggesting it may have belonged to Bermondsey Priory. Its later name is derived from Alan de Plugenet, an early lord of the manor.” (Ditchfield, The Manor Houses of England)

The Manor House is the headquarters and conference centre of Abbey Manor Group Ltd. which also owns the barn. It is a fine limestone, gabled, cruciform building with eight bays and a single midstrey. An upper floor has been inserted and it is now let to commercial tenants.
