Manor Farm, Old Burghclere,
Hampshire

Manor Farm in Old Burghclere, Hampshire is part of the  Earl of Carnarvon’s estate and he kindly gave me permission to visit and photograph the medieval barn. Like most barns of its age, it has undergone many changes over the last 600 years.

The floor level has been changed. Two of the cart entrances have been blocked and a new opening made in one gable end.

However it still retains most of its original timber. It is an aisled barn, eight bays long with queen post trusses supporting the tiled roof. It is clapboard clad and still in agricultural use.
