Barn at Acton Scott Historic Farm

Acton Scott is a Working Farm Museum. It featured in BBC 2’s “Victorian Farm”. The barn is a typical eighteenth century brick barn. It has two entrances and houses both a mobile threshing machine (when it is not being used for demonstrations) and static machinery driven by a horse gin in the yard at the front. It also has a “Gin House” at the rear.

This machinery presaged the end of the barn as the grain could be processed as soon as it was harvested. Check the website for opening times and dates of threshing demonstrations.
