Acton Scott is a Working Farm Museum. It featured in BBC 2’s “Victorian Farm”. The barn is a typical eighteenth century brick barn. It has two entrances and houses both a mobile threshing machine (when it is not being used for demonstrations) and static machinery driven by a horse gin in the yard at the front. It also has a “Gin House” at the rear.
This machinery presaged the end of the barn as the grain could be processed as soon as it was harvested.
After Covid and an outbreak of E-coli the farm was forced to close by and was faced with the threat of permanent closure. However I understand it has now been established as a charitable trust and is planned to open agin in Spring 2024. You can find out more on their website:
