Northolt Barn

Northolt Barn is one of the barns at the Chiltern Open Air Museum. It was moved to the museum from Northolt in Middlesex in 1980.

It is a timber framed, hay barn built in the sixteenth or seventeenth century. At that time the fields around Northolt were used to grow hay to provide fodder for the thousands of horses working in London. It has a large wagon entrance but no midstrey as hay is not threshed. Now it houses a set of wooden kits for visitors to try their hand at constructing timber-framed barns.
