Northcourt Barns, Abingdon

Northcourt barns in Abingdon, Oxfordshire is a farmyard complex which has been taken over by Christ Church, Northcourt Road, as a church and community site. The oldest barn is a stone-built medieval, tithe barn. This appears to have lost several bays at one end, probably when the farmyard was redeveloped and the other two barns were built.

The tithe barn and one of the other two  barns both have cranked or arched under-principals indicating that the roofs were built or re-built two to three hundred years ago. This style of roof truss is common to barns of that period in this area.
