Wychurst, A Saxon Hall, Kent

Regia Anglorum is an Anglo-Saxon, British Living History and Re-enactment Group specialising in the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. As well as appearing at re-enactments all over the country they have a permanent site in Kent. There they have re-created a Saxon manorial compound based on a dateline of 1000 AD.

Wychurst is the longhall where the group gathers, to re-live the life of the “mead hall”. The hall is based on archaeological evidence from various excavations, but is also influenced by later aisled barns which may well be the descendants of the Saxon great halls of the post Roman period.
